We also met with some of the doctors who are on the front lines fighting HIV/AIDS at a local hospital in Windhoek. Their work and medications are provided by PEPFAR, the U.S.'s program to help sustain the lives of those infected with HIV and to help prevent the transfer of HIV/AIDS from mothers to their children. This has been an incredibly successful program, as the statistics speak for themselves. Not many dry eyes left that hospital, and the visit made me even prouder to be an American!
